about

An ode to love, wrapped in nihilism, and delivered with a veiled sense of possibility, What’s the Point of Anything? is the latest from Sydney indie rockers Pan-Pacific Grand Prix.

What’s the point of goin’ out? What’s the point of stayin’ in?

Its driving, dust-tinged guitars are tied to the zipline of Ross Tipper’s laconic vocals that wax on the thrills and spills of life. The song builds, playfully inviting the listener in to indulge in their own pessimism for a moment before just as quickly returning them to reality, back to a relentless groove as sure as death, taxes and the passage of time.

What’s the point of mini golf? What’s the point of gettin’ off? What’s the point of trying to be better?

The song is the latest in the evolution of Tipper’s insightful and infectious songwriting. It follows album Undone, Like a Satin Ribbon Pulled Gently (released in 2020 with darby) and 2018 EP Everything is Awful.
